February 3, 2042: Recruiting the Next Generation
I received an invitation to present at a legal conference for students who want to practice criminal law, with a focus on instances involving domestic abuse. Seeing how committed young people are to standing up for victims of abuse was encouraging. In my speech, I stressed that the goal of domestic abuse law is to provide victims with a network of safety and assistance, not merely to imprison their abusers.
I'm launching a drive to recruit the upcoming generation. The message is straightforward but impactful: "Stand for the Silenced."The campaign's main goal is to increase public awareness of the vital role domestic violence prosecutors play in defending victims and holding perpetrators of abuse responsible. Using social media, we will showcase the true accounts of survivors, demonstrate the backstage effort involved in constructing these cases, and provide advice to law students considering this career route.
My intention is to collaborate with advocacy organizations, bar associations, and law schools to establish mentorship and internship programs that are expressly focused on domestic abuse law. Young attorneys are more likely to adopt this as their career path the more exposure they have in this area.
